Lewis's Monkeyflower
This nice plant decorates the edges of streams up in the high country of California. It also grows in other parts of the west, where the flowers are a dark purple color. Snapdragon is a strange name to me. It might come from the appearance of the flower as looking like a dragon getting ready to eat something. I can't imagine where monkeyflower came from.
