Davidson's Fritillary

This is a green flower with brown markings on the inside. I found this specimen on Mt Pinos, in Southern California. They are uncommon and hard to find, as they are well camoflaged.     Fritillaria pinetorum (Lily family)

The tiny flowers are called Blue Lips by many people, but my friend refers to them as 'step-ons'.   My books call them Sticky Blue-Eyed Mary.   Collinsia rattanii  (Snapdragon family)
