Sierra Nevada Mtns
Here's the view looking south from the summit of Split Mountain. The rocks in the foreground is the south summit of Split Mountain. Way in the distance, like 32 miles away, snowy Mt Whitney can be seen in the sun. Just to it's left (at the edge of the picture) Mt Williamson is in the shade. Mt Russell and Trojan Mtn are in front of Mt Whitney. I can also see Mt Barnard, Mt Keith, and Mt Tyndall sitting there. Junction Peak is in the center, and going to the right (west) from there you follow the Kings-Kern Divide past Mt Stanford and Mt Ericsson. This picture shows thirteen 14ers and near-14ers, and a veritable sea of lesser peaks. Unfortunately the air was very hazy with monsoonal humidity, so the long-range transparency was poor.
