Milestone Mesa is the unofficial nickname of the big peak in the center. It's top is a mesa, and it is connected to Milestone Mountain, whose top is the opposite of a mesa. The snow has just melted off of this little plateau in the foreground, and the grass is busy turning green again. On the other side of the plateau is the Kern River Canyon. Looks like a nice day for a hike up-canyon, ya think?
