Kern Ridge
Dawn over the Kern Ridge. There are a couple of orographic rope clouds shown in the process of dissipating due to the heat of the sun (the rest of the sky was clear). At high elevation, sometimes dawn brings a wonderful pink color to the part of the sky where the sun is just barely shining. That is called Venus' Belt. Below that is a blue color where it is still nighttime. This view was acquired from camp at ~11,200' elevation, above Tyndall Creek. It is a wider-angle view of another picture in this section.
