Packsaddle Lake
I made this image on the first day of June, as the snow was receding from the land. Behind Packsaddle Lake there are three frozen tarns visible. The Packsaddle Peak is part of the Glacier Divide in the John Muir Wilderness. Even in the frozen wasteland of Desolation Basin there are critters. While I was camped here a hummingbird came by to see if I had anything to eat. I also saw the tracks of a mountain lion which was following the tracks of a deer. This high up in the mountains the lakes don't thaw until late June, sometimes July. Springtime is in July and August, that's when plants grow, critters run around, and flowers bloom.
