Lone Pine Peak

This is the dramatic hill west of the town of Lone Pine. Seen here from the Alabama Hills, it presents a nice triangular shape. Look at the two knife edge ridges reaching down from it. The Alabama Hills are mostly just big piles of big rocks. There are a couple deep gullys which support small underground creeks fed by snow melting up in the mountains. Trees can grow in these gullys because their roots reach way down to the water.
