Thunderboomer
Lake Powell is a man-made reservoir. This is about a twenty minute nighttime exposure I made as the thunderboomer moved away. Above the storm the sky was clear. I tried to take a picture similar to this back in the eighties, but this one came out much better. During the exposure the earth turns, carrying my camera and tripod with it, and so the stars are drawn out into streaks. The brightest 'star' is the planet Saturn. Yes. Did you know that you can see several of our sun's planets with your own eyeballs? No telescope required.
