Desert Lily

These plants only bloom in the hot, dry desert. They are very sparse, almost non-existent, on dry years. But after a winter with abundant rain (for the desert, that is) they can be seen popping out in lots of places. The plant can be six feet tall, and bears a spike of very large flowers. White with green stripes.       Hesperocallis undulata  (Lily family)
