Lava Bomb

Can you feel the heat? That big lava bomb was ejected from the cinder cone in the background, a long time ago. While the bomb itself has cooled off considerably since then, it was not cool the day I was there. It was in the upper 90's before noon, and with the sun shining on the black surface, it was quite hot to the touch. This is in the lower end of the Owen's Valley, where 100 degree days are common.
