Purple Bells

Most California Fritillaries are green and/or brown, but this rare variety is purple. Even the stem is purple. It looks like a Checker Bell Fritillary which has been in the refrigerator too long. Wouldn't you turn purple if you'd been in the refrigerator too long? I found this example at Point Reyes. A lovely flower, if you want my opinion.   Fritillaria affinis var. tristulis  (Lily family)
