Western Monkshood

Monkshood is named after the top sepal, which forms a hood. It is a mountain plant, growing in wet soil. Do not eat this plant, it is extremely poisonous!! Your eyes will go crossed and blind, you'll lose coordination, you won't be able to talk, you will begin vomiting, have diarrhea and convulsions, go into delirium, your kidneys will quit functioning, and then you will die of heart failure (if you haven't died already). Heed this warning, as this plant and it's eastern relative is found throughout the USA.     Anconitum columbianum  (Buttercup family)
